...If you have access to YouTube, I warmly recommend watching the moving music video, Zion by American Christian singer-songwriter, Aaron Shust. His lyrics quote from verses such as “‘even at the time I gather you; for I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes,’ says the LORD.”[1] As you watch the sepia images of Jewish people being welcomed to the land of Israel after the Holocaust, when one-third of the world’s Jewry had been savagely annihilated, picture the future return after the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and the reign of the Antichrist over much of the world. It will be a time when in Israel itself, “two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, but one-third shall be left in it.”[2] No wonder that Hosea writes, “They shall walk after the Lord. He will roar like a lion. When He roars, then His sons shall come trembling from the west; they shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt, like a dove from the land of Assyria. And I will let them dwell in their houses.”[3] Who would not tremble coming out of their hiding places, having survived a campaign of maniacal genocide? This will be the ultimate fulfilment of Ezekiel 20:41, “I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.” Read the beautiful passage in Zephaniah 3:9-20 and understand the context of the Lord rejoicing over His regathered people, “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”[4]
