Those who pray for Israel do not need a book with formulated prayers. That is the role of the
Holy Spirit. What is needed is written material
to illuminate the mystery ahead,
both for Israel and for the whole world.
The Lord will do the rest.
Setting the scene for the Time of Jacob’s Trouble is best approached with an eye for detail. This background will show us how to engage with the subject of the End Times and will help us to focus on the people of Jacob. It is a struggle to pray into a situation which we find mysterious.
Jesus tells us to watch and pray; for this we require understanding about what we are watching out for. We need to discern the significance of what is happening on the world stage, as well as what is on the horizon for Israel.
Through explanations about the End Times and glimpses into Israeli society, you will find it easier to connect with Israel in prayer in these last days.
Preface
Christians with a heart to pray for Israel may wonder what is ahead for the beloved nation, and how this may be reflected in their intercession. There will be readers who are particularly conscious of their role in teaching the next generation to navigate Biblical eschatology. Yet others will be seeking a springboard from which to launch into further personal or group Bible study. The writer of the book of Hebrews distinguishes between two sources of spiritual nourishment: milk and solid food. Various types of solid food require differing amounts of chewing. Tough cuts of meat can be hard work! Some of the topics ahead, such as on Daniel’s 70-week prophecy and the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, may require more chewing over, and so call for a second reading. The details supplied are important to grasp due to the role they play in the overall picture presented in this book. Interpretation of Biblical prophecy tends to be either literal or allegorical. Like most Jewish Christians, I hold to the former, and this leads me to a pre-millennial understanding, which you will find reflected in the pages within.
